This past Sunday, February 16, we heard a lot more from Jesus in his Sermon on the Mount. Take a look at Matthew 5:21-37. These can be among the most difficult verses from scripture to read. But the key is to know that Jesus is not asking us to follow more rules but rather to have an active interest in the wellbeing of other people. It can be hard to see some of those around us as people, but in recognizing others as beloved children of God we find that what we need more than rules is love.
